Alberta Donner

Alberta L. Donner, 73, of Milan, Illinois, died Monday, January 27, 2025, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City.

A gathering to celebrate Bert’s life will be held from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, February 8, at Knoxville Tap in Milan, Illinois. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.

The former Alberta Lynn Simmons was born January 9, 1952, in Moline, the daughter of Robert and Mildred (Kauffman) Simmons.

Bert was a woman of many talents. She had a love for the outdoors and spent as much time camping and fishing as she could. When she wasn’t enjoying her yard or the outdoors you could find her crocheting something beautiful. Throughout the years she had different careers, she worked in the food service industry and owned several real-estate properties. 

Alberta is survived by her niece, Samantha Bleyaert of Milan; three siblings, Sharon Bleyaert (Chris Riley) of Milan, Charles Simmons of Milan, and Michael (Sylvia) Simmons of Cary, Illinois; many beloved nieces and nephews; and long-time friend, Frank Hoteling. She was preceded in death by her parents; her niece, Jera Bleyaert; and a sister-in-law, Sherry Simmons.
