Charles M. Fraikes, 77, of Port Byron, Illinois, formerly of Colona, Illinois, died Monday, August 6, 2018, at home surrounded by family.
Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Friday at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, immediately followed by a luncheon at Eagles Club, 911 Mansur Ave., Carbon Cliff, Illinois 61239. Cremation will take place prior to services at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.
Charles Martin Fraikes was born July 29, 1941, in rural Ipava, Illinois, to Oscar and Hazel (Genseal) Fraikes. He graduated from Lewistown High School in 1959. He drove a semi most of his life, retiring from Midland Davis in 2011. On December 1, 1984, he married Patricia O’Dell in Green River, Illinois.
He enjoyed watching Dodgers baseball and the Fighting Illini, reading books about history, gardening, camping, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia; sons, Larry (Carol) Fraikes of Colona, and Gary (Kimberly) Fraikes of Geneseo; a daughter, Renee (Sean Palmer) Izer of Davenport; step-sons, Robert (Sharon) Anderson of Colona, Richie Anderson of North Fort Myers, Florida, and Scott (Yvonne) Coughran of Colona; step-daughters, Trisha (Mohamed) El-Refaei of Worcester, Massachusetts, and Suzie Coughran of Silvis; a sister, Bernice Riley of Canton, Illinois; 21 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and four sisters.
