Daniel W. Clausen, 34, of Davenport, Iowa, died Friday, May 26, 2023, in Good Samaritan, Davenport.
A gathering to celebrate Daniel’s life will be Noon to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 25, at The Columbus Club, 1111 W 35th Street, Davenport, Iowa. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Memorials can be made to the family or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Daniel William Clausen was born September 1, 1988, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Michael and Jani (Wanzell) Clausen. He earned his associate degree in criminal justice from Brown Mackie College and had been a delivery driver for Papa John’s Pizza for over 10 years.
Daniel will be remembered for his candid yet warm and playful personality, as well as his great smile and infectious laugh. He was someone who loved to tease and make people smile. He kept his circle small, but if he was your friend, it was for life.
He loved to follow Formula One racing and the St. Louis Cardinals. His greatest passion was driving. He found great solace and freedom in just cruising around listening to music. In his free time he loved to play disc golf with his best friend or play video games.
In his life the thing he was most proud of was being Jani Wanzell’s son; her unconditional love and grace carried him everyday. His love for her was beyond measure. He was also very proud to have fulfilled his promise to his dad by earning a college degree. Daniel treasured spending time with his family above all else, especially his niece, Marley, who was his greatest joy.
Daniel is survived by his beloved mother, Jani Wanzell (Thomas Wegener) of Tipton, Iowa; his grandmother, Jo Wanzell of Davenport; his sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn “Kat” and Jon Franks of Eldridge; and his niece, Marley Franks. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Clausen.
The family would like to give special thanks and recognition to St. Croix Hospice as well as the Good Samaritan Society of Davenport who showed Daniel exceptional care and compassion in his final months.
