Donald J. Rench, Jr.

Donald J. “Joe” Rench, Jr., 65, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Generations at Rock Island.

Graveside services are Noon Monday, October 28, at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet in the marking lot at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, at 11:30 a.m. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.

Donald Joseph Rench, Jr. was born August 20, 1959, in Rock Island, the son of Donald Joseph Sr. and Lorraine (Bieri) Rench. He attended Davenport West High School. He served in the U.S. Army, spending 6 months in Germany, and moved to Denver, Colorado after being discharged from the Army. He married Barbara Schumann on September 25, 1987 and they were happily married for 37 years. 

He graduated from Red Rocks College on the Dean’s list, at which time he became a certified diesel and automtive mechanic. After moving back to the Quad Cities, he worked at Metrolink for 18 years, retiring in 2018. 

He enjoyed fishing, traveling with his wife, playing guitar, and listening to Joe Banamasa play guitar.

Joe is survived by his wife, Barbara Rench of Rock Island; his son, Joseph James Rench of Moline; granddaughters, Emma and Paisley Rench; his sister, Lisa Diane Johnson of Rock Island; a niece, nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Steven Rench.
