Gerald L. Perkins, 71, of East Moline, Illinois, died Tuesday, July 2, 2019, in his home.
Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. A celebration of Jerry’s life with food and beverages will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2019, in CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Society or the Humane Society.
Gerald Lee Perkins was born July 1, 1948, in Moline, to Malcolm and Germaine (Polfliet) Perkins. He had been married to Virginia Pompa and Dawn Woodworth. He was employed by the City of East Moline in the Street Department for 33 years, retiring in 2003. He was a huge Cubs fan, and loved the Chicago Bears, NASCAR racing, Harleys, the outdoors, his pool league, rolle-bolle, and dogs, especially his beloved dog, J.P. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Jerry is survived by three children, Tina Norton of Moline, Rodney L. Perkins of Silvis, and Jennifer Vaske of Port Byron; five grand children, Nickolas Perkins, Jared Norton, Drake Norton, Samantha Schraeder, and Braedyn Vaske; two great-grandchildren, Layla Perkins and Celeste Norton; brother, Robert Perkins and his spouse Carey of Moline, and sisters-in-law, Pat Perkins of Colona, and Shirley Perkins of Rock Island. He was preceded in death by siblings, Gilbert Perkins, Allan Perkins, Russell Perkins, Elaine Mueting, and Judy Rohm.
