John J. Wilcox

John J. Wilcox, 92, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Monday, October 22, 2018, at ManorCare Health Services, Davenport.

Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Monday at Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors.  Those wishing to attend should meet in the parking lot at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, at 9:45 a.m.  Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.

John was born April 20, 1926, in Woodhull, Illinois, the son of John and Ruth (Burgess) Wilcox.  He married Marilyn J. Axland in May of 1959.  She passed away January 17, 2007.  He was a highly decorated World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.  He graduated from Monmouth College and worked as an industrial engineer for John Deere.  He also enjoyed fishing.

John is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Victoria Wilcox and Roger Bergfeld of Davenport, and a grandson, Benjamin Bergfeld.  He was preceded in death by his wife; a grandson, Roger John Bergfeld; and a sister, Noma Koski.
