Leonard Grant Holmes was born November 13, 1964, in Moline, the son of Gerald and Pat (Rice) Holmes.  He was a cab driver for Lucky Cab.

Leo, the biggest ladies’ man we know, took advantage of playing his Pokemon Go to meet people and talk.  Boy, that man could talk!  He always loved Harley-Davidsons and always wanted to own one, but never got the opportunity.

He was skilled at working chain mail, making several pieces for various renaissance festivals.  Leo loved to eat, so his favorite holiday was Thanksgiving with all the home cooking.  Leo always left a warm feeling in everyone’s heart, even after only meeting him one time.

Leo was the most loyal and loving friend that you could have.  He could also drive you crazy, but that is what made life interesting with him.  It was never boring with Leo around.  Above all else he loved being with his family, from playing Santa to just sitting watching a good movie.  His kids and grandkids were the light of his life and made sure he did not miss a moment to spend time with them.

He is survived by his significant other of over 30 years, Iris Mazzarollo of Rock Island; his son, Matthew Holmes of Maquoketa, Iowa; his mother, Pat Long of Derby, Kansas; his adopted children, Corey Ruby of Davenport, Tara Davis of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Victoria (Kasee) Frantz of Rock Island, Tiffany Ruby of Davenport, and Rustin Ruby of Moline; grandchildren, Ame Kuhn, Andrew Davis, Serenity Lawrence, Aiden, Dylan, Kasee Jr., and Tristen Frantz, Christopher Gwin, and Kairi Ruby; a sister, Tricia (John) Avila of Derby, Kansas; a brother, Patrick (Ala) Long of Newport News, Virginia; aunts, Susan Carroll, Debbie (Ron) Raines, and Annette Holmes; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and an estranged daughter, Arianna.  He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Holmes; a brother, Marty Long; and an aunt, Linda Rice.
