Leonard Spicher, 82, of Rock Island, Illinois, formerly of East Galesburg, Illinois, died Sunday, February 18, 2018, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.
Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of the Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Private burial will take place at Rock Island National Cemetery.
Leonard was born April 4, 1935, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He owned and operated Spicher Petroleum in Galesburg for many years, and served as mayor of East Galesburg for one term. He spent time in Coralville, Iowa, where he worked in maintenance for the Expressway Motel.
He was an electrician by trade, who loved fiddling and fixing things. He also was an avid gardener who was known to “feed the neighbors”.
Among survivors are several grandchildren, including his grandson, Ronald (Laurie) Spicher of Alpha, Illinois; nine great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Dick Holmes of Coralville, Iowa.
