Lloyd E. “Skip” Chick , 79, of East Moline, Illinois, died Monday, October 15, 2018, at Clarissa Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Private family services will be at a later date. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of the Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.
Lloyd Earling Chick was born March 16, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Lloyd and Alice (Peterson) Chick. He married Linda Brown on September 29, 1967, in Moline. She passed away in 2015.
He was a proud four year veteran of the UN Navy, a switchman, and did miscellaneous jobs for the Rock Island Rail Road, owner and operator for the Quad City Raceway from 1970-1979, journeyman and maintenance mechanic at various operations around the Quad Cities.
He was a member of Rock Island Moose Lodge #190, Rock Island Boat Club, Doric Masonic Lodge #319 and a 32nd Degree member of Valley of Moline Masonic Lodge. Skip enjoyed music, dirt track racing, riding his Harley, boating, and camping where Skip was always seen holding a PBR. Above all of his memberships and hobbies, he loved spending time with his family.
Lloyd is survived by a daughter, Karen (Dennis) Roberts of East Moline; sons, Nick (Shirley) Musick of Elgin Texas, and Scott Thaxton of Hampton; five grandchildren, Eric Roberts, Evan (Shawna Raley) Roberts, Christoper (Hannah) Glaub, Joe (Minnie) Balusek and Jason Magness; six great-grandchildren; Hendrix; Chloe; Lily; David; Bryce and Kaylee, a niece; Melody McGee; and a nephew; Daniel Rogers. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a sister, Linda Rogers; and his daughter, Lori Chick.
