Margot A. Palbicki

Margot A. Palbicki, 76, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.

A private family gathering will be held at the home of Margot’s sister on Sunday, January 28.  Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.

The former Margot Alta Pope was born January 28, 1947, in Taylorville, Illinois, the daughter of Robert and Florence (Manning) Pope.  She graduated from Rock Island High School.

She married the love of her life, Randy Palbicki.  Previously, she had been married to Richard Cobert, with whom she had two children prior to separating. 

She enjoyed camping, traveling, and being social with all of her friends (old and new), family, co-workers, and pups.  She was loved by many and always had a special spark that so many were drawn to! 

Margot is survived by her beloved husband, Randy; her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Mike Matysik; grandchildren, MacKenzie Matysik, Masie Matysik, Marley Matysik,  AJ Cobert, Nicolas Cobert, Gia Cobert and Guiliana Cobert; a brother, Craig (Marsha) Kuriger; sisters, LenDel Peterson and Candace (Rod) VanScoy; a sister-in-law, Therese Kuriger; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Cobert, in 2021; her mother, Florence Pope; her father and step-mother, Robert and Dorothy Pope; and a brother, Keith Kuriger.

The family would like to give special thanks to Margot’s nephew, Brandon Anderson, his wife, Brittney, and daughter, Brenna, for the wonderful care given to Margot in recent years.
