Mercedes Flores

Mercedes Flores, 85, of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at home.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. A private burial will take place in Central America at a later date.

Mercedes Flores was born March 17, 1937, in Nicaragua, to Octavio Garcia-Valery and Mercedes Garcia.

Mercedes earned a Master’s Degree in education. She was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Cambridge, Illinois. She enjoyed music, computer games, traveling, spending time with her family, and was a life-long learner.

Mercedes is survived by her husband, Dr. Miguel Flores, Sr. of Bettendorf; her children, Miguel (Andrea) Flores and Lauren Flores, both of Bettendorf; grandchildren, Lydia (Erron) Vandemore and Jarrin Flores; and a sister, Flores Asher Garcia of Miami, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Sergio Garcia Quintero, Adolfo Garcia Quintero, and Octavio Garcia Quintero.
