Neva M. Hamilton

Neva Mildred Hamilton, 88, of East Moline, Illinois, died Sunday, August 14, 2022, at Mercer Manor in Aledo.

Her Celebration of Life is 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, august 19, at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Graveside services are at Rock Island National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Friday. Those wishing to attend should meet in the parking lot at Trimble Pointe at 2:15 p.m.

Neva M. Hamilton was born September 9, 1933, in Mallard, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard and Vera (Roberts) Barnes. She attended Omaha Bible Institute and married the love of her life, Ed Hamilton, September 5, 1965. They remained married for 54 years until Ed passed away July 6, 2020. They will be buried next to each other.

She was a wonderful cook and loved family gatherings. She spent 20 plus years on Campbell’s Island with her family boating, water skiing and have many cookouts. She truly loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She frequently dressed her grandchildren up in her clothes and jewelry.
She spent most of her working years as a Social Worker and finished her career with Catholic Social Services.

Neva loved Jesus as her Savior and was a faithful member of East Moline Foursquare Church. She frequently narrated many Christmas plays and other presentations at the church.
She was also a lifelong Minnesota Vikings fan.

Neva is survived by her children, Verda Lyons, Valli Griffin, Carlene VanDyke, Cherie (Bill) Rogers, her favorite son- Braxton (Carla) Hamilton, 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and one sibling, Richard Barnes. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and 3 siblings, Loretta (Barnes) Barringer, Phyllis (Barnes) Schneider and Bert Barnes.

She will be missed by so many, but we look forward to our reunion in Heaven.
