Peter Zanetello

Peter Zanetello, 96, of Colona, Illinois, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2023, at Genesis Medical Center, Silvis, Illinois.

Private graveside services will take place at Rock Island National Cemetery and a celebration of Peter’s life will be held at a later date. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans.

Peter was born April 26, 1926, in Alton, Illinois, the son of Richard and Eunice (Kennedy) Zanetello. He married Luella Voorhis on January 24, 1948 and raised two daughters.

He enjoyed going to the casino and visiting with friends. He never met a person that he didn’t think he knew.

Pete served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II. He retired from International Harvester as a machine repairman.

Peter is survived by his daughter, Melody Massa of Silvis, Illinois; brothers, Henry Zanetello of Kansas City, and Richard Zanetello of Springfield; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Luella; and a daughter, Gloria Schmidt; and a sister, Kay Grabbe.

The family would like to give special thanks to his friend and neighbor, Chuck Applebaum, for the wonderful care given to Peter.
