Shirley Winthurst, 84, of Bettendorf, Iowa, formerly of East Moline, Illinois, died Friday, December 3, 2021, in her home.
Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. A celebration of Shriley’s life will be held from 12 to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021, in the South Moline Township Center, 637 17th Avenue, East Moline.
The former Shirley Lou Taulbee was born March 10, 1937, in Steelville, Missouri, to Blaine Orville and Mary Agnes (Hatcher) Taulbee. She graduated from United Township High School and married William Winthurst in 1956, in East Moline. He died March 11, 2012. She was assistant librarian at East Moline Public Library for over 40 years.
She enjoyed playing cards at the center, sewing and crafting, was a long time Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and also enjoy bowling on her leagues and her special time at night before bed watching Perry Mason with Skip
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Jane Bailey of East Moline; grandchildren and their spouses, Steven and Teresa Bailey and Jerry and Kat Bailey; a great-granddaughter, Teagan Bailey; brothers, Tom and James Taulbee; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Taulbee. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, William Blaine Winthurst; and a brother, Marion Taulbee.
